Boat Fund

New Boat Fund

We have now received further funding from the ARA in the form of being recognised as a Project Oarsome Extra Club. We have already been provided with funding for a river 4 but have received additional funding for a river pair and several sets of blades. Needless to say we are about £1,500 short of the amount we need to raise so if anyone has any good ideas for fund raising or would like to make a donation please do not hesitate to let a committee member know.

Most of you will be aware that in 2004 the Rowing Club established a Junior section, the first members of which were Coastal Novice Aggregate Champions and South Coast Novice Champions in 2006, not to mention the many J16 prizes that they have won at various junior races along the coast. The section has even competed at the National Indoor Rowing championships where the girls team reach final of the team event - mind you the Worthing Herald refused to acknowledge the clubs’ successes as the editor thought competing at the National Indoor Rowing Championships might be seen as embarrassing - it was shown in National television though!?

Establishing the junior section has also meant we have been successful in obtaining a number of grants and loans that would otherwise have been closed to us including the Steve Redgrave Trust, the Local Network Fund, Co-Op Dividend, Worthing Borough Council Community Chest, Awards for All, Rowing Foundation plus many more.
